In January 2020, AGL was awarded a prestigious international contract by Maersk International (USA) for one of the most complex aviation logistics projects ever executed in Jordan.
The project involved the complete disassembly, preservation, packing, and international transportation of 25 Dassault Mirage F-1 fighter aircraft, together with their associated maintenance workshops, ground support equipment, aircraft spare parts, technical documentation, and training missiles for shipment to the United States.
The contract was signed on 17 January 2020, and operations officially commenced on 1 February 2020 under the direct leadership and supervision of Hazem Attiyat and Firas Kalbouneh.

AGL delivered a complete turnkey aviation logistics solution from project planning through final export.
1. Aircraft Disassembly
Our specialized team successfully completed the full technical disassembly and preservation of 25 Dassault Mirage F-1 Fighter Aircraft
Each aircraft was carefully dismantled following approved technical procedures.
The fuselage, wings, tail assemblies, flight control surfaces, and structural components were individually preserved, protected, and prepared for international transportation.
2. Aircraft Maintenance Facilities
Beyond the aircraft themselves, AGL dismantled and prepared complete aviation maintenance facilities, including:
- Hydraulic Workshop
- Engine Workshop
- Fuel System Workshop
- Aircraft Support Equipment
- Specialized Maintenance Tools
- Aviation Ground Support Equipment (GSE)
Every asset was catalogued, preserved, packed, and prepared for shipment.
3. Custom Packing & Preservation
One of the project's major challenges was designing suitable export packaging for highly sensitive aircraft components.
To meet this requirement, AGL established a fully operational 1,000-square-meter carpentry workshop inside Muwaffaq Al Salti Air Base.
This dedicated facility produced custom-engineered wooden export crates specifically designed to protect aircraft structures and components during international transportation.
Each fuselage, wing assembly, vertical stabilizer, horizontal stabilizer, and aircraft component was individually packed according to international transportation standards.
4. Spare Parts Management
The project also included the handling of approximately 39,000 Aircraft Spare Parts. Many of these components had remained in storage since 2007.

The result was one of the most comprehensive aircraft spare parts preservation programs undertaken in Jordan.
5. Transportation Operations
Once dismantling and preservation were completed, AGL coordinated the international transportation of the entire project.
The shipment included:
- 117 Sea Freight Containers
- 25 Flat Rack Containers dedicated to transporting aircraft fuselages
- Multiple Air Freight Shipments
- Aircraft Training Missiles
- Aviation Technical Manuals
- Engineering Documentation
- Aircraft Maintenance Records
- Ground Support Equipment
Transporting the aircraft fuselages presented another significant challenge.
Due to their oversized dimensions, detailed route surveys, transportation planning, height clearance assessments, and special movement coordination were required to safely move the cargo by road before export.
Every movement was carefully engineered to ensure safe transportation without damage or operational delays.
AGL's resilience
Only a few weeks after work began, the world came to a standstill.
The COVID-19 pandemic created unprecedented operational challenges, including nationwide lockdowns, movement restrictions, border closures, and strict health regulations.
For many organizations, projects of this scale came to a complete halt. For AGL, stopping was never an option.
Through careful planning, disciplined project management, and the dedication of our team, operations continued safely and efficiently throughout the pandemic.
Despite every challenge, the project was completed successfully with:
