
AGL was awarded the contract to manage the complete dismantling, preservation, packing, project management, and international transportation of a legacy Full Flight Simulator that had been sold to a customer in the Netherlands.
Having been installed and operating for approximately 28 years, the simulator had become an integral part of the training facility and could not simply be removed using conventional lifting or dismantling methods.
The project demanded far more than logistics expertise. It required engineering judgment, structural analysis, risk management, technical dismantling, and meticulous project planning to ensure the simulator could be safely removed while protecting both the equipment and the building.

Challenges
During the initial engineering survey, AGL identified a major structural challenge.
The simulator could not physically pass through the existing building openings.
The only possible exit required removing a reinforced concrete wall that formed part of the building's structural envelope.
Further investigation revealed that after nearly three decades, the concrete structure had settled by approximately 12 centimeters. Removing the wall without proper engineering analysis created a significant risk to the stability of the building.
Rather than accepting unnecessary risk, AGL immediately suspended demolition planning and proposed an alternative engineering solution that prioritized safety above all else.
Solutions
AGL recommended bringing back the original engineering company that had designed and constructed the reinforced concrete structure nearly 28 years earlier.
Working together with the original structural engineers, detailed engineering calculations, structural assessments, and risk analyses were completed before any demolition work began.
Based on their recommendations, a specialized dismantling methodology was developed to safely remove the concrete wall while maintaining the building's structural integrity throughout the operation.
Although this solution increased the project cost, safety and engineering integrity remained our highest priority.
The result was a perfectly controlled dismantling operation completed without compromising the building or the simulator.
Site Restoration & Project Closure
Our responsibility did not end once the simulator had been removed.
Following the successful dismantling and export of the equipment, AGL completed a comprehensive site restoration program to return the facility to its original condition.
The temporary structural opening was professionally reconstructed in coordination with specialized contractors, restoring the building exactly as required.
All finishing works were completed, the worksite was thoroughly cleaned, and the entire area was inspected prior to handover.
When the project was completed, there was no visible evidence that major structural modifications, heavy dismantling operations, or international logistics activities had taken place inside the facility.
The building was restored to its original appearance, and the client received the facility in excellent condition.

The simulator was successfully dismantled, professionally packed, exported, and transported to its new owner in the Netherlands.
